Frequently Asked Questions

What services does Ink 4 Pink offer breast cancer survivors?
While Ink 4 Pink doesn’t directly provide the services, we help cover the cost of nipple, breast, port, eyebrow, and scar camouflage tattooing for breast cancer survivors.

I’m a breast cancer survivor. How can I get the cost of my tattoo covered?
First, please check with your doctor to ensure that your skin is ready for tattooing. Next, book a consultation with one of our partner tattoo artists and ask them to provide an estimated cost for your request. Ensure that their contact information is included on the estimate.
After you finalize these items, reach out to us via email (info@ink4pink.org) to let us know. Make sure to include a copy of the estimated cost, and we will get back to you as soon as we can!

Can Ink 4 Pink guarantee that the cost of my tattoo will be covered?
While there isn’t a 100% guarantee, Ink 4 Pink’s Board does meet every month to review new service requests and determine if they will be partially or fully funded.

How much of my tattoo can be funded by Ink 4 Pink?
Funding for tattoos is determined by our Board on a case-by-case basis. Nipple tattoos will always be funded, while decorative pieces are dependent on the cost and size of the tattoo.

Do I need to get a tattoo of a realistic nipple?
Absolutely not! You can do whatever you want with your body, from heart-shaped nipples to a flower piece, or anything you and your tattoo artist can dream up together.

How long after my mastectomy should I wait to get a decorative tattoo?
It’s recommended that you wait at least three months after your final breast reconstruction procedure to get your tattoo. This will give your skin plenty of time to heal. However, it is best to leave the discussion to your doctor and tattoo artist.

Which states does Ink 4 Pink service?
We have tattoo partners all over New England. Currently, we are primarily focused on the Greater Seacoast Area.

How can I become a tattoo partner?
Please email us at info@ink4pink.org. Let us know that you are interested, and we will schedule a call to go over the partnership and the items we need to proceed.
